COMBINATION OF THE SERPENT/SNAKE AND THE BIRD …  (those that crawl on the ground and those that fly in the sky)  (boundless adaptability of nature’s intelligence)

the higher and lower body

higher and lower dimensions of life’s experiences and capabilities.

Animism –> self-perceived forms within, similar to existing animals, we intuited a kind of unity with nature’s previously acheived forms.

Considering the similarity of mythical monsters, dragons and dinosaurs.. It is strange that creatures similar to dinosaurs were dreamed up by our ancestors, who were unaware of their existence and never lived with them.  In the collective dreams of eastern myth, dragons were both revered and fought against.  But they were always fiercely battled against as the ultimate adversary in the west, having been originally an invention of eastern mythology.  Being the king of demons, most western peoples could not consider dragons to be a representation of any positive aspect of nature.  This has deep implications as to the psychological relationship we have with other cultures, as well as ourselves on the level of the collective unconscious.  The projection of satanic evil onto most of the world, by Christian cultures, is not unrelated to this distribution of global mythological orientations.  Religions which have readily believed in demons have often led people to aggressively demonize other human beings.  Indigenous peoples and less developed countries have suffered as a result.  It’s up to your historical interpretation to determine whether this and other myths are a large or small factor in the general chaos present in the world.  Some see images of demons as symbolizing the conflict between the higher spiritual self and the lower physical self, and some see it as symbolizing the conflict between the the self and the other, the strong and the weak, or the collectively empowered self versus the individually isolated self.  All of these interpretations are potentially offensive and contradictory.  More mature interpretation of mythical images is possible.  This may involve identifying original artistic and literary intentions of people who are long dead and untraceable.  A pure intuition is necessary, detached from the momentum of destructive political perceptions held for millenia.  What would a dragon have meant to you if you had written a myth or produced a work of serpentine artwork?
